UEFA Nations League: France Beat Belgium 2-0
Hosts France secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Belgium in their UEFA Nations League (UNL) clash on Monday night, 9 September.
After losing 3-1 to Italy in their UNL opener last week, Les Bleus were determined to redeem themselves when they faced off against their visiting neighbours at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in Lyon.
With players such as Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann on the bench, it was up to William Saliba, N’Golo Kante and Randal Kolo Muani among others to carry the French flag high in their comeback.
Fortunately, after beating off Belgium’s early pressure, France found their rhythm, which culminated in an impressive strike from Kolo Muani in the 29th minute.
Come the second half, Didier Deschamps’ men doubled their lead: winger Ousmane Dembele scored in the 57th minute with a powerful shot into the top-right corner of the net.
As a result of their victory, France now holds second place in Group A2 with three points, while Belgium is in third place, also on three points.
